Cassona Healthcare Group ("Cassona") has announced a landmark healthcare infrastructure initiative to establish 16 Regional Diagnostic Centers across Ghana by 2028, representing a total projected investment of US$52 million to US$60 million.
The initiative reinforces Cassona's long-term commitment to Ghana and supports the nation's broader vision of achieving medical independence while positioning itself as a future healthcare hub for West Africa.
A Dual-Purpose Model: Service and Training
Each Regional Diagnostic Center will function as both:
A comprehensive diagnostic service facility, and
A clinical training hub for medical professionals
The centers will provide a full spectrum of modern diagnostic services, including:
Full laboratory services
Ultrasound
CT scanning
MRI
Endoscopy
Other advanced diagnostic solutions
Beyond service delivery, the facilities are designed to build long-term national capacity by training local healthcare professionals and strengthening technical expertise within Ghana's health system.
Investment Framework and Public-Private Partnership
Each center is projected to require US$3.25 million to US)$3.75 million, inclusive of construction and initial operational setup.
Following extensive consultations last year between Cassona's CEO and senior stakeholders at Ghana's Ministry of Health — including discussions with the Technical Advisor and the Minister of Health — it became evident that, in light of current fiscal priorities, a private-sector-led model would provide the most efficient, sustainable, and timely path forward.
Cassona will therefore lead the development and operational rollout of the centers, while welcoming the Government of Ghana or any other interested party to participate with up to 20% equity contribution, subject to mutually agreed terms by both parties.
This structure ensures:
Reduced fiscal burden on the Ministry of Health
Accelerated implementation
Long-term sustainability through shared alignment
Strategic Rollout: Prioritizing Underserved Regions
Cassona intends to begin implementation in underserved and less-developed regions, including:
Upper East Region
Upper West Region
Volta Region
Western Region
This phased rollout is designed to reduce regional healthcare disparities and minimize the need for patients to travel long distances for advanced diagnostic care. In parallel, Cassona has partnered with reputable institutions, including County Hospital, to develop two additional advanced medical centers in Kumasi and Accra, further strengthening Ghana's national healthcare network.
The "Triple A" Principle of Cassona
The initiative is guided by Cassona's "Triple A" philosophy:
Acute Diagnostics – Precision-driven, modern medical imaging and laboratory services
Accessible Locations – Strategically placed facilities to serve communities efficiently
Affordable Treatment – Sustainable pricing models to ensure broad access
This framework ensures that infrastructure investment translates into measurable patient impact.
A Systems-Based Healthcare Philosophy
Dr. Vanessa Apea, Cassona Global Imaging's newly appointed Board Member, articulated the company's mission:
"This is where Cassona enters not simply as a vendor, but as a systems actor. Cassona's model recognizes what many health systems still overlook. It acknowledges that diagnostics are not products but infrastructures, and that their effectiveness depends less on the machine itself than on the ecosystems of logistics, maintenance, engineering, power stability, and supply chains that keep them operational.
By embedding these elements into its core approach, Cassona reframes the meaning of healthcare technology. It shifts the focus from ownership to function, from procurement to performance, and from capital expenditure to operational resilience.
Cassona does not primarily sell equipment. It builds the conditions for continuity. This is not merely a commercial distinction, but a philosophical one. It replaces the question 'What can we buy?' with a more fundamental one: 'What can we sustain?'"
Her remarks underscore Cassona's commitment to long-term operational resilience rather than short-term equipment deployment.
A Vote of Confidence in Ghana's Governance and Future
Cassona's decision to invest up to US$60 million represents more than a commercial expansion — it is a strategic endorsement of Ghana's national trajectory. The company recognizes Ghana as a country that has taken meaningful steps toward minimizing corruption, strengthening institutional integrity, and advancing transparent governance.
The Government's focus on inclusive national development — prioritizing long-term progress for its citizens rather than enriching a select few or serving narrow external interests — has provided the confidence necessary for significant long-term private investment.
Ghana's improving regulatory clarity, administrative efficiency, and commitment to accountability make it an attractive destination for responsible foreign direct investment. Cassona firmly believes Ghana is well-positioned to become a healthcare hub for West Africa and is proud to contribute to that transformation through sustainable, transparent, and partnership-driven infrastructure development.
Announced in anticipation of Ghana's Independence Day on March 5, this initiative reaffirms Cassona's enduring commitment to investing in Ghana's healthcare future and supporting its journey toward true medical independence.
